Dishwashing: Machine - Intro & what's safe

Another thing to keep in mind when deciding if you should put something in the dishwasher is "are there places within this dish where water shouldn't go but it could get into?"

We realized this from personal experience after filming this video when we dishwasher a cheap travel coffee mug (the kind you get for free with a company logo on it). Here's the story:

  • As I flipped it rightside up, water eeked out of the bottom! Gross.
  • Since there was an outer and inner layer, there was a crack at the bottom that water went into - no bueno.

A similar type of item that this may be a problem with is a probe thermometer or anything that has electronics. Although some of that device is made to be waterproof, usually they recommend avoiding water near the electronics.

HAPPY WASHING!
